Feb. 24
Dispute settled
2:34 p.m. — 5400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD
). Civil Disturbance. A man reported that after he wired more than $3,000 to a rental company in Vermont for a home on Longboat Key, the particulars of the rental agreement began to change. Police helped facilitate an understanding between both parties.

Left behind
3:56 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road
. Found Property. The owner of a liquor store turned in a set of keys someone left behind on the store’s counter.

Feb. 25
Smoldering look
6:13 a.m. — 3800 block of GMD
. Fire. Police noticed that some flattened cardboard boxes on Gulf of Mexico Drive were smoldering, and Fire Rescue extinguished the boxes and removed them from the road. The boxes most likely fell off a garbage truck.

Trim notice
2:55 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road
. Trespassing. Police did not observe an illegal mangrove-cutting incident that was reported, but they did warn a man he couldn’t cut bushes along a beach path that didn’t belong to him. It was further explained to him that the North Shore Road beach access was closed.

Feb. 27
Lost man located
11:07 a.m. — 4300 block of Chatham Drive
. Public Service. Police were told that an elderly man who had gotten lost was found by a friend.

Feb. 28
Dazed and confused
2:49 p.m. — 3700 block of GMD
. Traffic Violation. A woman was pulled over for passing in a no-passing zone and running drivers off the road. Police said she was dazed and confused and didn’t think she had done anything wrong.

Not a valid excuse
9:49 p.m. — 6900 block of GMD
. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a woman who didn’t possess a valid driver’s license. She told police she is the spouse of the car’s registered owner and has never had a driver’s license.

March 1
Traffic offender arrested
11:31 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Longboat Club Road
. Traffic Accident. A woman who was driving without a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance was arrested for rear-ending another vehicle and careless driving.
