JUNE 9

BATH TIME

7:24 a.m. – 600 block of Cedars Court

Disturbance: Police were called after a resident reported being confronted by a neighbor twice over washing her dog in the community swimming pool.  No threats of violence were made or implied. The officer spoke to both parties , who agreed to refer future complaints about the pool to the community manager.

 

JUNE 10

TURN IT DOWN

10:45 p.m. – 7100 block of Longboat Drive East

Disturbance: An officer was dispatched to look into a report of loud music. Upon arrival, the officer determined the music was coming from a wedding reception. The homeowner agreed to turn off the music.

 

JUNE 12

NONE SHALL PASS

1:57 p.m. – 7200 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Public service: While on another call on the north end of the island, an officer was told about the gates on the Longboat Pass bridge being stuck in the down position. The officer walked to the bridge tender’s office and was told a technician was already working on the problem. The gates were soon open and traffic flowing.

 

JUNE 14

HELP!

6:26 a.m. – 5900 block of GMD

Suspicious person: Police were called to investigate a report of a suspicious person alongside Gulf of Mexico Drive. The report indicated the person was waving at passing traffic. Following up on the report, the officer learned the man was trying to find someone to help him jump-start his car. A neighbor eventually agreed to help.

 

JUNE 14

NO ONE ABOARD

11:27 a.m. – Near Linley Street boat ramp

Boat adrift: A report of a drifting boat prompted an officer to respond near the Linley Street boat ramp. The officer found a sailboat apparently dragging its anchor near the town dock and boat ramp. The officer tried to reach the boat’s owner, with no initial success. No damage was done to city property.

 

JUNE 14

ON THE SIDEWALK

1:23 p.m. -- Police Department

Found property: A man came into the Police Department to turn in a Visa card, found on the ground in front of Harry's Continental Kitchens,  525 St Judes Drive. After accepting the lost card, a police officer tried to contact the cardholder, with no initial results. The officer notified management of the restaurant that the card had been turned over to the department and was being held in a secure evidence locker.
