April 13
Vacant look
4:41 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road
. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman told police she saw someone enter a vacant restaurant. Police made plans to search the building and help the owner secure it further.

April 14
Sure signs
11:41 a.m. — 5800 block of GMD
. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported that someone keeps disturbing things on a vacant lot she owns. A for-sale sign, a no-trespassing sign and a mailbox post had been removed. Police found the items scattered throughout the lot.

Hedging his bets
12:07 p.m. — 500 block of Juan Anasco Drive.
Disturbance. A man reported his neighbor was cutting down bamboo hedges between their property lines. Police promised to inform the man he can’t cut the hedges past his property line.

If you can’t say anything nice
8:14 p.m. — 700 block of Tarawitt Drive.
Disturbance. A woman told police she motioned for a man to slow down while she was walking with her son. The driver pulled over to tell her he would hit her 3-year-old son if he walked in front of the car. Police located the driver and warned him not to speed and not to make remarks like that.

April 15
Bottle service
2:04 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and Broadway.
Assist Other Agency. The Bradenton Beach Police Department informed Longboat Key Police Department that females were throwing beer bottles from their car. Police located the females, who told police the beers were disposed of properly. Police warned them of the complaint and asked them to move along.

April 16
How low can you go?
10:13 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD
. Noise Disturbance. Police asked a disc jockey to turn down music playing at a wedding reception.

April 18
Checked out
10:55 p.m. — 1900 block of GMD.
Missing Person. A woman told police she was worried about her husband. He left for a hotel after they had an argument, and she hadn’t heard from him since. Police located him at a Sarasota hotel, and he said he didn’t want his wife to know where he was located. She was just happy to discover he was OK.

 

April 17
Day of rest
8:55 a.m. — 600 block of Broadway.
Code Enforcement. Police informed a tree trimming crew they couldn’t work on Sundays.

Shot in the dark
2:18 p.m. — Off the Key.
Firearms. Police were notified that shots were being fired on Jewfish Key and found several shell casings on the east side of a property owner’s lot. The renter of the home admitted to firing several rounds into the dirt and didn’t know he was violating town ordinances. He promised to unload the pistol and put it away for the remainder of his visit.

Fire starter
2:52 p.m. — Jewfish Key.
Code Enforcement. A Key resident told police that someone renting a home there was starting fires on Jewfish Key. The renter received a warning for violating town code.

Return policy
4:55 p.m. — Overlook Park
. Code Enforcement. Two men were asked to pour out their beers and not return to Overlook Park with alcoholic beverages.

Music mishap
5:44 p.m. — Overlook Park
. Code Enforcement. Police observed a boater playing his music too loud near New Pass Bridge and documented the incident.

Party moved inside
9:23 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD.
Noise Disturbance. A hotel was issued a written warning after a disc jockey repeatedly played the music too loud at a wedding reception. The wedding reception was moved indoors to a banquet room.

April 18
Chain gang
6:31 p.m. — 500 block of Schooner Lane
. Code Enforcement. Police told construction workers they couldn’t operate chainsaws after 5 p.m.

To their credit
7:02 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway.
Found Property. Police found a Visa card on the ground and attempted to locate its owner.

April 19

Trim notice
9:52 a.m. — 100 block of Sands Point Road.
Civil Disturbance. A woman reported a tree-trimming job on her condominium property that she felt was unsightly. Police informed her it was a civil matter.

Mixed signals
6:57 p.m. — 900 block of Spanish Drive South.
Abandoned 911 Call. Police responded to an abandoned 911 call, and the homeowners told police they were having trouble with a telephone wire outside of their home.

Sparks fly
9:05 p.m. — 2100 block of GMD
. Noise Disturbance. A man admitted to police that he had lit a type of firework earlier. He was informed that fireworks were prohibited.

Bonfire banished
10:46 p.m. — 2700 block of GMD.
Juvenile Acts. A woman reported people were partying in the beach area of a closed resort. Police found a bunch of people around a bonfire and made them extinguish it while their parents were called to come get them.

April 20
Trespassing violation issued
10:25 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
. Trespassing. A supermarket manager asked police to trespass a man who tried to steal beer from the store the day before.

Your tag’s showing
6:11 p.m. — 5600 block of GMD
. Traffic Violation. A man told police he didn’t make alterations to the tag on the car he had just bought. He received a court summons for the action anyway.

No sudden moves
8:01 p.m. — 5900 block of GMD.
Reckless Driving. A man told police a sport utility vehicle swerved into the bicycle lane. The vehicle couldn’t be located.
