Mischief: A deputy noticed two juvenile males standing by the door to a Little League baseball field shed. The deputy made a U-turn and saw both boys run across the street. When the deputy stopped them, they said their friend had gone into the shed so they locked him in as a joke, just to be funny. The deputy went back and saw another male come out of the shed with a bag. He confirmed the story of the other two boys, that his friends had locked him in. There was no forced entry, and the lock wasn’t functioning when the deputy looked at it. He searched the boys’ bags, but when the boy who had been in the shed became uncooperative, he handcuffed all three of them until he contacted the president of the Little League, who expressed no desire to press charges, so the boys were released to their parents.
Suspicious minds

Suspicious circumstances: Staff at a motel called the Sheriff’s Office because someone at the hotel seemed “suspicious.” They thought he had given them a fake name, and he claimed to be from Mexico but they said he did not speak Spanish. The vehicle he drove was a rental and the man had paid in advance for his room. The deputy did not think any crime was committed, and the man had no warrants.

Criminal mischief: A woman crashed into the rear-end of a man’s car when he was getting ready to make a left-hand turn. The man got out and started kicking the driver’s side door of the woman’s car, causing a large dent. The man told the deputy that he did it in the heat of the moment and told the woman he would pay for it to be fixed.
A thousand miles for love
I-75 Northbound at mile marker 219
Suspicious incident: A deputy was dispatched to a call that someone was walking along Interstate I-75. The deputy stopped the man who had a valid Florida identification. He told the deputy he was walking to Ohio to be with his girlfriend, despite having no money, food or plans on how to get there. The deputy gave him a ride to Exit 220, which was State Road 64, and let him know that he could not walk on the interstate. The deputy also found a BB gun in the man’s backpack. He said he had planned to use it to hunt for food and protect himself from wild animals. When the deputy told him that the BB gun would probably get him into more trouble, the man said the deputy could keep it because he would not be returning to Florida to pick it back up.
