June 5
Innocent mistake
8:19 a.m. — 500 block of De Narvaez Drive. Property Damage. A man reported that a seawall construction worker ran over his backflow prevention device and water-meter box while trying to pull off the edge of the road. The seawall company made arrangements to pay for the repair.

Police ruin photo shoot
2:20 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road. Trespassing. Police told a photographer and his four subjects that they couldn’t hold a photo shoot on private property near the beach. The group was sent elsewhere to find another
location.

June 6
Cable company comes calling
10:24 a.m. — 6000 block of GMD. Property Damage. Police tracked down a tree trimmer who accidentally backed over a Comcast cable box while picking up debris. The man came back to the scene and agreed to pay $250 in repairs to the flattened
box.

June 7
Speedster caught
12:06 a.m. — Off the Key. Traffic Violation. A man who was pulled over for driving 61 mph on Gulf of Mexico Drive told police: “I guess I was going a little fast.”

Burglar was an acquaintance
12:52 a.m. — 700 block of Jackson Way. Suspicious Person. While en route to a burglary call, the woman who called in the complaint called back to cancel her burglary call. Police checked out the call anyway, made sure everyone was safe and discovered that the occupants of the home knew the woman who was banging on their door earlier.

Towed from the beach
4:30 a.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Traffic Violation. A man who parked in the beach access parking area was busted for driving with a suspended driver’s license and an invalid tag. His car was towed from the scene.

June 9
Lost man returned home
1:15 a.m. — 700 block of GMD. Assist Other Agency. Police found a 74-year-old man walking southbound near Gulf of Mexico Drive in the middle of the night. The disoriented man matched the description of a missing Sarasota man, and he was reunited with his family.

Flying wallet is lost
4:51 p.m. — 2500 block of GMD. Lost Property. Police found a man walking on the Gulf of Mexico Drive bicycle lane and he explained he was looking for his wife’s wallet, which she left on the roof of his car by mistake. The wallet, which contained $280 and several credit cards, could not be found.

June 10
Wire jolts man and his dog
7:17 a.m. — Town dock on Linley Street. Public Service. A man reported that a live electrical wire shocked him and his dog. Police responded and couldn’t find a live wire. The man pointed to a solid bare wire attached to a pole that appeared to be grounded. The electric company was called to
investigate.
