Dec. 22
Unwelcome visitor
9:39 a.m. — 5300 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD
). Trespassing. A resort manager told police that a woman from a neighboring resort complex (which doesn’t have hot tubs available to its guests) trespassed in the pool area, left behind empty beer and vomited on the pool deck. The manager also believes the woman stole a no-trespassing sign that was placed to keep people out.

Disaster averted
5:29 p.m. — 4200 block of GMD
. Public Service. A man called police to report that he accidentally locked his keys and two 20-month-old twins inside his rental car. A locksmith was able to unlock the car in a short period of time and the children were unharmed.

Dec. 26
Stolen valuables
10:48 a.m. — 1600 block of GMD
. Larceny. A restaurant waitress reported that her purse was rifled through on the floor of the wine room. The woman discovered that $65 was missing, along with her driver’s license and several credit cards.

Lower the noise
10:05 p.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road
. Noise Disturbance. Police responded to a report of loud noise and asked two women to keep down the noise level of their party.

Dec. 28
Dog fight causes injuries
7:31 a.m. — 600 block of Ranger Lane
. Animal Bite. A man told police that while walking his small dog, a white poodle and a black dog attacked his dog. The fight caused the man to fall down and cut his hand while trying to rescue his dog from the skirmish. The woman who owned the poodle and black dog said her dogs had gotten loose and promised to contact the man about the fight.

Accident avoided
1:26 p.m. — 2600 block of Harbourside Drive
. Bicycle Accident. A man told police that he thought he was going to hit a pickup truck, so he slammed on the brakes and flipped off his bicycle. The pickup truck driver offered his help, and firefighters bandaged his elbow and knee.

Dec. 29
Underage drinkers reprimanded
1:27 a.m. — 5600 block of GMD
. Noise Disturbance. Police responded to reports of a loud party and heard people running when they knocked on the door of the apartment. After several minutes of knocking, a young man, who realized that the police were not going to go away, opened the door, through which a strong odor of beer wafted. Another young man identified himself as the owner’s son and handed over half a case of beer. After police chastised the underage drinkers, they said they would call the boy’s mother in the morning to report their behavior.

Home burglarized
3:15 p.m. — 700 block of Emerald Harbor Drive
. Burglary. A man told police that he and his wife returned home from the holidays to discover that someone broke into his home and stole some belongings. The burglars used a tool to pry open the sliding-glass doors between the house and the pool deck area.

Dec. 30
Another alarm keypad stolen
10:29 a.m. — 700 block of Emerald Harbor Drive
. Burglary. A woman reported that sometime while she was out of town, someone broke into her home and stole the alarm keypad and a motion detector from her alarm system. Nothing else was taken, and entry to the house was forced through sliding doors from the back of the home.

Peddlers issued trespass warnings
3:32 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
. Soliciting. Two men were issued trespass warnings at Avenue of the Flowers for asking shoppers for money in the parking lot.

Family feud
9:16 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
. Disturbance. A woman asked police to supervise while she and her brother’s family packed and moved to another hotel for the night because her husband was drunk and belligerent. The husband told police he wasn’t getting along with his wife’s family and agreed to stay calm while they left for the
night.

Expensive tools stolen
11:48 a.m. — 4300 block of Falmouth Drive
. Larceny. A man told police that someone from a pest-control company stole $660 worth of tools from his toolbox while they were spraying for pests inside his home.

Jan. 1
Lord of the dance
12:20 a.m. — 1600 block of GMD
. Disturbance. Police responded to a report of a man refusing to leave a New Year’s Eve party at a restaurant. Upon arrival, police calmed down a man and got him medical attention after he revealed he was punched by at least two men for dancing with someone’s else’s girlfriend at the party. Said the man: “You know us Irishmen, when we like to dance, we’re gonna dance, and if we want to fight, we’re gonna fight.”

Jan. 6
No love lost
5:42 p.m. — 2800 block of Harbourside Drive
. Disturbance. The captain of a large yacht named “Summer Love” fired a young man who worked on the boat. The captain called police because he was worried the former employee might return and cause a
scene.
