Jan. 6
Unusual find
4:07 p.m. — 6900 block of GMD. Found Property. A public works department employee discovered a purse while trimming some bushes near Gulf of Mexico Drive. Police sent the owner’s belongings to her home in Tampa.

Wandering boat tied down
4:55 p.m. — 7300 block of GMD. Found Property. A man told police he secured a wandering fiberglass sailboat to his dock. The owner was contacted, and he promised to pick up the boat.

Jan. 7
Alarming number of burglaries
5:55 p.m. — 6500 block of Gulfside Road. Burglary. A man told police that upon arriving home with his wife, they discovered someone had entered the house and stolen a security-alarm keypad from an interior wall.

Jan. 8
Missing money
11:20 a.m. — 400 block of Longboat Club Road. Lost or Missing Property. A man told police that he was missing $1,100 in cash from his wallet and several money-market account checks. But when a police officer went to his patrol car to get information for the man, the man said he had found the checks. The man was certain, however, that he did not misplace his cash.

Driven to drive
3:49 p.m. — Off the Key. Traffic Violation. Police saw a man leaving Overlook Park without a visible tag on the back of his pickup truck. The man produced a temporary tag, but admitted he was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

The hose knows
4:45 p.m. — 3300 block of GMD. Larceny. A man told police that someone stole a large green hose from the side of his house.

Jan. 9
Delayed delivery
7:17 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Reckless Driving. A Sarasota County Area Transit trolley driver called police to report an erratic driver in front of him. Police found both drivers arguing on the side of the road. A pizza-delivery driver told police the bus driver cut him off at Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island, which caused his pizzas to fall to the floor. The bus driver told police the man got so upset, he cut him off, threw him the finger and kept stopping his car. Police told the men it would not be wise for them to fight over the incident and sent them on their way.

Jan. 10
Late-night partiers
12:09 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Noise Disturbance. A man called police to report loud noise coming from the neighboring condominium. The occupants told police they had just arrived home from a wedding reception and promised to keep it down. The man called back to report more noise, but police could not hear the partiers.

Doctor’s orders
6:17 p.m. — 600 block of Longview Drive. Disturbance. A man called police because his wife refused to give him the keys to the car, even though he’s not supposed to drive per doctor’s orders. He agreed to stay home and eat dinner with his wife.

Jan. 11
Water leak repaired

6:03 a.m. — 600 block of Penfield Street. Public Service. A woman complained of a water leak in the roadway. The public works department was called to fix the minor water leak.
