License to steal
2:58 p.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive. Lost Property. A woman reported that someone stole the decal sticker from her car’s license plate.

Swim lesson
3:42 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. Three teenagers, who were found walking on 360 North condominium property, were given verbal warnings for trespassing. They told police they had swum out to Beer Can Island and were too tired to swim back, so they cut through the property, instead.

April 1
Just bill me
11:20 a.m. — 500 block of Ed Lee Lane. Civil Disturbance. Police stood by as two men worked out differences over a boat. The buyer told police he paid $7,500 for the boat, but when he came to pick it up, the seller said he owed $500 toward a bill for a mechanic. The man finally agreed to pay for the bill so he could take the boat.

April 2
Barking banished
8:43 a.m. — 700 block of Land’s End Drive. Animal Nuisance. A man called police to report that his neighbor’s large dog is let loose in the yard from 2 to 3 a.m. every night. The dog barks for 15 minutes and always wakes the man up. The dog’s owner apologized and promised it wouldn’t happen again.

Hanging around
9:59 a.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Found Property. A beachgoer gave a police officer a set of car keys he found hanging from the Broadway beach rules sign.

In use
10:31 a.m. — 4100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Trespassing. A man told police that unknown subjects are entering a third-floor penthouse at Harbor Square after hours. The third-floor unit is being renovated, and the property manager continues to find spilled drinks, cigarette butts and signs that the toilets have been used. The man will attempt to catch the trespassers by placing silent motion detectors that will alert him when people are in the building.

No camping allowed
7:59 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A man was issued a warning for performing a U-turn on Gulf of Mexico Drive. The man told police he was homeless and looking for a place to camp. He was told he couldn’t camp on Longboat Key and was given information for The Salvation Army, in Sarasota.

April 3
Bad bounce
10:54 a.m.  — 2800 block of Harbourside Drive. Civil Disturbance. A yacht broker told police that a $150 check from a client who was interested in buying a boat had bounced. Police requested the man come to the police department and pick up his belongings he left behind on the boat. The client paid the broker $150 in cash, and the bounced check was returned to the client.

Beach bummer
12:58 p.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Vehicle Larceny. A man told police he believes someone stole his cell phone and its docking station from his unlocked van, when he and his family made several trips back and forth from the van to the beach.

April 4
Noisy neighbor
12:09 p.m. — 600 block of Bayview Drive. Animal Nuisance. A man called police to report a dog barking for 30 minutes. Police contacted the dog owner’s, who told police he would make sure the incident doesn’t happen again.

Beachgoer arrested
5:53 p.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Narcotics Violation. A man was arrested for being in possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The man also took cans of beer onto the beach.

April 5
Walk this way
1:13 p.m. — 200 block of North Shore Road. Trespassing. A woman called police to report beachgoers walking across Longbeach condominium property to gain access to the beach. Upon arrival, the suspects were gone. But police warned several other people walking along the condominium’s seawall that they were trespassing.

April 6
Under pressure
8:59 a.m. — 5600 block of GMD. Lost Property. A maintenance worker told police that someone stole a $400 pressure washer from an unlocked storage area at Cedars.

That’s garbage
11:19 a.m. — 600 block of Buttonwood Drive. Dumping. A town employee told police he saw someone dump landscape debris on town right of way property that’s used as a flood-management area. Police called the property owner, who explained he has told his lawn man not to dump lawn debris there in the past. The lawn man was contacted and agreed to clean up the debris and not to do it again.

April 7
Watchmen
11:27 a.m. — 2900 block of GMD. Public Service. A woman told police that trespassers were using a piece of vacant land (formerly the Starfish Motel) as a beach access. The woman, who plans to build a home on the property, asked police to monitor the property until construction begins later this year.
