Hedge fun
Nov. 21
7800 block of Ashley Circle
Disorderly conduct and criminal mischief: A man called the Sheriff’s Office to report that he had caught a person on video damaging his hedge. He had suspected these people of vandalism since 2011, which was why he installed a camera. On Nov. 21 at 9:59 p.m., the camera caught a man running and trying to jump over the hedge. On the same video, the same person repeatedly jumped on the plant to trample it. The person then took of his shoes and placed them on top on the hedge, but they were later retrieved by a friend. The video was placed into property and evidence and a capias request was completed for the hedge jumper.

Blame it on the whiskey
Dec. 2
10700 block of Rodeo Drive
Burglary: A man went into Ed’s Tavern and asked the manager for directions to the restroom. After a few minutes, the manager was walking to his office when he saw the man with a hand full of money sitting in his office with two bottles of liquor on the desk. The manager called the Sheriff’s Office. When the deputy arrived and asked the man why he had the money, he said the whiskey made him do it. The deputy found $13 in one-dollar bills in the man’s pocket, which the manager stated was the exact amount missing from his desk. The man was taken to jail.

Bad paint job
Dec. 5
4200 Caddie Drive
Criminal mischief: A woman left paint cans outside her condo, which she planned to use to repaint the condo she was fixing up. She called the Sheriff’s Office because someone had opened the cans and poured the paint on her front door and her porch. She did not see anyone doing it and doesn’t have any idea who the culprit might be.
