The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
Nov. 19
 4 p.m.
— 5500 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Criminal mischief. The complainant observed the subjects keying the truck she was driving. She stated she saw the one suspect key the car and the other was driving another vehicle. The complainant stated she does not know of any reason why someone would want to key the truck. Her father-in-law owns the truck, and she uses it to go to school. He was present at the time of the investigation and advised he would want to press charges. He wasn’t present while the car was keyed. The complainant could only provide the names of the suspects. The responding deputy took pictures of the key marks on the vehicle and uploaded them at District 3.

Nov. 17
 4:09 p.m. 
— 7365 52nd Place E. (Bealls). Grand theft. The suspect selected a cart full of merchandise, mainly children’s clothing, and proceeded to the front of the store. He then grabbed the merchandise from the cart and exited the store, passing all points of sale without making an attempt to pay. In the parking lot, the complainant identified himself as loss prevention, and the suspect attempted to flee with the merchandise in his hands. The complainant chased the suspect, who turned and threw all of the merchandise at him. The suspect continued to flee. The complainant, with the help of two other loss prevention officers, took the suspect to the ground only to be thrown off. The suspect made it to the Circle K across the street from the store where the responding deputy apprehended him from underneath a broken door in the car wash area. The suspect was transported back to the store to gather all information and an affidavit before being transported to the Manatee County Jail.

Reported Nov. 17
 2:16 p.m.
— 5400 block of Lena Road. Defrauding an innkeeper. The complainant stated the suspect checked in and stayed at the hotel for three months. She stated the suspect left the hotel without paying for the bill. The complainant advised she has not been able to get in contact with the suspect.

Nov. 18
 6:30 p.m. 
— 3106 Whitfield Ave. (U-Haul). Vehicle burglary. Unknown suspect(s) siphoned fuel from three U-Haul trucks that were parked beside each other between Nov. 18-19. There are no known suspects at this time, and processing was completed with negative results.

Nov. 19
 5:50 p.m.
— 7365 52nd Place E. (Bealls). Petit theft. The defendant was stopped and detained after he concealed an item in his shorts and exited without paying. The complainant gave him a trespass warning, which he understood, in the responding deputy’s presence. The defendant’s father responded to the scene and was notified. The defendant was arrested without incident and transported to J.B.F.

10:55 p.m. — 3255 University Parkway (Applebees). Simple battery. The victim advised he and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation while sitting at the bar. The victim claimed the suspect pushed him and then punched him in the jaw. There were no marks on the victim’s face and independent bar patrons advised there were no punches thrown by either subject. The victim was adamant about not pressing charges and signed a waiver of prosecution. However, the waiver was void because the victim was under the influence of alcohol.
