Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer. A 50-year-old tourist was causing a disturbance in a bar, cursing at patrons and employees and throwing quarters at people. Deputies asked her to step outside, but she refused and cursed at them. They finally got her outside, but she refused to sit down or answer questions. She also continued to swear at them. She was arrested but refused to walk to a deputy’s car. So, she was carried, at which time she kicked a deputy in the shin. At the jail, she also threatened to kick corrections officers.

. Grand Theft. About a month after a resort’s maintenance supervisor stopped showing up for work and began arguing over the phone with his boss, several maintenance items were stolen from the resort. A change machine, power washer and paint sprayer were taken. The maintenance man installed the change machine, so he knew how to remove it, and he was in charge of the other two pieces of equipment.

Friend or foe?
3:34 p.m. — 5600 block of Midnight Pass Road
. Petit Theft. A man let a female friend move into his condo for four months. A few days after she moved out, the sheriff’s office told him that she was arrested for forgery. She had stolen his checkbook and written seven checks for more than $2,700 for wine, to get her hair done and on a massage. The woman called him from jail and told him she was being extradited to Monroe County, where she was facing more bad-check charges.

It’s been a bad day
4:10 p.m. — 4200 block of Via Piedra Circle
. Battery. After her downstairs neighbor had been loud all day, an apartment dweller approached her to complain. Instead of apologizing, the neighbor got in the upstairs woman’s face and yelled, “You don’t know what kind of day I’ve had!” She then grabbed the woman by the arms. After letting go and walking away, she hit the woman’s car window. The woman called the sheriff’s office, and a deputy visited the downstairs neighbor. He saw she’d been crying and was bleeding from the mouth, because she had had her wisdom teeth removed that day. And shortly before the upstairs neighbor confronted her, the woman’s mother had visited her and they had gotten into an argument.
