The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
 Feb. 24

Noon — 5100 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (Lakewood Ranch YMCA). Battery. The victim was reportedly in the weight room when his friend entered and confronted him about being intimate with his wife. The suspect grabbed him by the elbow and pushed him outside. There were no witnesses to the incident. The victim stated the suspect told him that if it were true he would put a bullet through his head. The victim also stated both parties separated after the threat. No physical injuries were observed. Post-Miranda, the suspect told the responding deputy that he did push the victim because he was angry. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail.

GATES CREEK
Feb. 24
 9 a.m.
— 200 block of Gates Creek Road. Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the residence by reaching through the unlocked window of the garage door and unlocking the deadbolt. The person(s) then entered the main section of the residence and walked to the oldest son’s bedroom. The person(s) then removed an item from the wall. The person(s) then fled.

GREYHAWK LANDING
Reported Feb. 21
 8:22 p.m. 
— 12700 block of Penguin Drive. Identity theft. Unknown person(s) used the complainant’s identity in fraudulently applying for numerous loans using the complainant’s personal information.

Feb. 23
 8:40 a.m.
— 200 block of Petrel Trail. Petit theft. The complainant reported an unknown person stole her bicycle. She let her son ride it to the neighborhood’s school bus stop. He reportedly parked the bike but did not lock it. The son spent the night at a sports function at the school, and when he returned the next day, the bicycle was missing.

MYAKKA CITY
Feb. 23
 7:10 a.m. 
— 27800 block of Brandiff Road. Armed burglary. An unknown person entered the residence through an unlocked door. Once inside, the person removed five guns, two guitars and $30. The total value of the items is $730. The residence was left in total disarray with clothes thrown about in every direction. The person then fled the scene by unknown means.

SARASOTA
Feb. 22
 2 p.m.
— 4900 block of Creekside Trail. Burglary to a conveyance. Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and stole $2,764 in items. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.

10 p.m. — 2957 University Parkway (Quiznos). Burglary to an unoccupied structure. Unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter the business by prying open the rear door. The suspect(s) did not succeed in prying open the door. No fingerprints were obtained at the scene.

Reported Feb. 25
 1:31 p.m.
— 8400 block of Tuttle Avenue. Scheme to defraud. The victim entered into a fuel club contract that involved purchasing gas certificates from the suspect. The victim was then guaranteed cash rebates for gasoline purchases made along with the redemption of the purchased certificates. The victim reported the suspect did not adhere to the terms of agreement, failing to send the victim some or all of the rebates that had been guaranteed to them. The victim reported the suspect still owes her $6,094.25 in unpaid rebates. Three other similar incidents were reported.

OTHER
Feb. 24
 4 p.m.
— 5200 block of 71st Street East. Criminal mischief. The complainant reported unknown person(s) damaged the air and water machine located behind his car wash. The person(s) tried to gain access into the coin deposit section of the machine. There are no security cameras at the location. The estimated cost to repair the machine is $750.
