Feb. 10
Delivery delayed
8:33 p.m. — 700 block of Longboat Court
. Suspicious Vehicle. A woman called to complain that a tractor trailer was parked in the road. Police made contact with the trailer’s two occupants, who explained they were waiting for a homeowner to return so they could deliver a piece of furniture. Their story was confirmed.

Feb. 11
Wife located
11:28 a.m. — 700 block of Longboat Club Road
. Missing Person. A man reported his wife was missing. She was located by telephone and had merely miscommunicated her whereabouts.

Dessert disaster
6:43 p.m. — 2500 block of GMD
. Fire. A man called to report a fire on the beach. Police found a family of six making s’mores on a grill. The family agreed to put out the fire after learning of the town’s ordinance against such action. Guess bananas Foster is also off the menu.

Feb. 12
Curious cruiser
7:50 p.m. — 100 block of Sands Point Road
. Suspicious Circumstance. A man called to report a suspicious white van “cruising slowly through the parking lot.” The van could not be located.

Feb. 13
Stolen signs
12:20 a.m. — Linley Street Dock
. Suspicious Circumstance. Police discovered that someone had taken the newly placed no-parking signs near the Linley Street town dock in the Village and placed them near town trash cans near the boat ramp. Police suggested that the Public Works Department should put the signs back in the ground with concrete.

Feb. 14
Party on pause
12:08 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD
. Rescue. A man called to report that a couple had fallen off a dock and were having trouble getting out of the water. When they arrived, police found the soaking-wet couple on the dock. The wife explained her husband had tripped and fell into the water and she jumped in to help him. Although the couple had been drinking, they were deemed safe enough to continue their evening.

It’s all relative
11:01 p.m. — 500 block of Rountree Drive
. Domestic Violence. A woman was arrested for pushing her mother-in-law through a sliding glass door during an argument over her husband’s criminal record. The incident caused injuries to both women.

Feb. 15
Dentures dismissed
2:27 p.m. — 400 block of GMD
. Found Property. A woman turned in half of a pair of dentures that she found on the shore. The dentures had barnacle growth on them and appeared to have been in the Gulf for a while. The woman was upset because when she showed them to a lifeguard, he dismissed the dentures and said the other half of them had been tossed away recently. The woman was concerned that a missing person could be identified through serial numbers on the dentures. Police took possession of the dentures to review any pending missing-person cases.

Vehicle scoots away
7:45 p.m. — 3100 block of GMD
. Lost Property. A woman called to report that her “get-around scooter” was missing. The $1,000 scooter was last seen attached to a ramp that was attached to the back of her car.

Feb. 16
Domestic dispute escalates
9:04 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
. Domestic Disturbance. A man and a woman were arguing in front of a grocery store and tried to grab the car keys from each other. It was later learned that the boyfriend struck his girlfriend in the head, although she would not press charges because she said she is afraid of him. The girlfriend refused to give a statement and was provided with a domestic violence packet.

Repairs gone wrong
11:36 a.m. — 1900 block of GMD
. Civil Disturbance. A woman called to report that she gave a man $900 to repair her car and later gave him an additional $800 required to finish the job. However, she discovered the work had not been complete and the man wasn’t answering his phone.
