Eight months after Bob Bartolotta resigned from his position as Sarasota’s city manager, Mayor Suzanne Atwell on Aug. 2, will offer Thomas Barwin a $175,000 annual contract to take his place beginning Sept. 1 — nearly a month after City commissioners rejected him for the same job.

Barwin got a second shot from commissioners at a regular meeting July 16, where he was selected with a unanimous vote. Interim City Manager Terry Lewis announced a week earlier he planned to step down from the position Aug. 3, ratcheting up the search for a replacement.

In addition to the $175,000 annual salary, Barwin will receive a lump sum payment of $15,000 for relocation expenses and $600 per month of the contract for driving costs.
