Commissioners to meet board candidates

The Longboat Key Town Commission will hold a meet-and-greet for board and committee candidates at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, in the commission chambers of Longboat Key Town Hall.

Six candidates have submitted applications for three seats on the Planning & Zoning Board. Current board members Phineas Alpers, Leonard Garner and John Wild are seeking reappointment. Zoning Board of Adjustment member Andrew Aitken along with Larry Grossman and Edward Krepela have also applied for P&Z Board seats.

Aitken has indicated that reappointment to the ZBA is his second choice. Board members Gaele Barthold and Thomas Bijou have also submitted applications for reappointment. Resident Kenneth Gorman has also submitted applications for ZBA, the Code Enforcement Board and any of the pension boards. Current Chair Robert Krosney and member Glenn Peterson have submitted applications for reappointment to the CEB.
Krosney and Burt Rosenfield are seeking reappointment to the Citizens Oversight Tax Committee.

The commission will appoint board and committee members at its 7 p.m. Monday, May 7 regular meeting.
