The Longboat Key Town Commission will say goodbye to the outgoing mayor, select a new mayor and vice mayor and swear in a new commissioner tonight.

At its statutory meeting at 7 p.m., March 21, the Town Commission will swear in Jack Duncan, the District 1 Commissioner-elect. Duncan replaces Mayor George Spoll, whose final term expires tonight.

The commission also must decide who will be the town’s mayor and vice mayor for the next year.

For two consecutive years, the commission has chosen the mayor based on who is the most senior member. The most senior member of the commission who has yet to be mayor is Commissioner Robert Siekmann.
