The Longboat Key Town Commission is poised for an all day affair at Town Hall today.

The commission will review a list of town goals and objectives for the 2015-16 fiscal year at 10 a.m. at its Goals and Objectives workshop. Residents and association members are invited to come tell the commission what they believe are town goals for the year and to ask commissioners for money to help fund initiatives that affect the town.

At 1 p.m., the commission holds its regular workshop, where an agenda item about the Longboat Key Police Department exhausting all of its overtime fund to assist with an understaffed dispatch department is sure to lead to another discussion about the Key’s in-house dispatchers.

Also on the agenda today is an update on town center planning efforts and a request by Town Attorney Maggie Mooney-Portale to amend her contract to allow her to bill the town at a rate of $195 per hour for any procurement work being done over 18 hours of work that’s currently provided to the town for a monthly fee of $20,312.50 per month.
