The Longboat Key Town Commission will set the maximum millage rate for the 2012-13 fiscal year at its regular meeting tonight.
The maximum millage rate is the highest rate that the commission could levy in September. Town Manager David Bullock has recommended a millage of 1.8872, which identical to the current fiscal year’s rate.
According to a June 25 memo from Bullock, the town anticipates that construction of north-end erosion control structures will begin in the late spring of 2013, requiring to levy a debt millage for Beach Erosion Control Special Districts A and B. The required millage for each district may also be discussed at tonight.
Also at tonight’s meeting, which takes place at 7 p.m. at Longboat Key Town Hall, the commission will:
Hear an update from Town Manager David Bullock on the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort;
Consider closing and action on:
• A revised commission schedule that would change workshop dates to 1 p.m. Mondays either one or two weeks after regular meetings and regular Monday meetings that would normally fall on a holiday to 7 p.m. the following Tuesday;
• An amendment to Bullock’s contract that extends the agreement through Oct. 31, 2015;
Consider on second reading and public hearing:
• An ordinance amending the town’s zoning code;
• An ordinance aligning town codes with Florida statutes that provided an exemption to real-estate agents and broker associates from payment of business tax receipts;
• Two ordinances providing for referendum votes to change the densities of properties at 5440 Gulf of Mexico Drive and 521 Broadway;
Consider resolutions:
• Allowing for a budget transfer of $5,000 to continue the filming and live-stream video broadcasting of commission meetings and workshops;
• Providing authority to the town manager to close the North Shore Road beach access and parking area if unsafe conditions develop.
