The election for the District 3 Longboat Key Town Commission takes place tomorrow, but many voters didn’t wait to cast their ballots in the race in which Bayou resident Ray Rajewski is challenging incumbent Vice Mayor David Brenner.

As of Friday afternoon, a total 1,465 ballots had been cast.

The week-long early voting period, which ended Friday, March 16 drew 975 voters to the polls, according to the Town Clerk’s office. The total for the week-long early voting period consisted of 184 Manatee County voters and 791 Sarasota County voters. Additionally, a total of 490 absentee ballots have been received, 193 of which are from Manatee County voters and 297 of which were sent by Sarasota County voters.

Voting hours for tomorrow’s election are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Polling locations are at the Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive, for Precinct 95 and Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, for Precinct 19.
Although Brenner and Rajewski are facing off to represent District 3, which stretches from 2251 Gulf of Mexico Drive to 3715 Gulf of Mexico, all residents who are registered Longboat Key voters are eligible to vote in the election.
