Commission to consider mall site expansion

Representatives of Benderson Development will plead their case for a third time Tuesday to Sarasota County commissioners as the company seeks to expand its University Town Center development to meet tenant and consumer demands. 

Benderson seeks to add a total of 700,000 square feet of retail and office space at the southwest corner of University Parkway and Interstate 75, with new parcels primarily stretching southward east of The Mall at UTC. 

The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Sarasota County Administrative Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota.
