The Sarasota County Commission at a July 11 meeting approved a $200,000 financial incentive package for a company that plans to open a new office in the area and add 50 jobs over the next five years. It will receive $100,000 of the incentive upfront.

County officials currently refer to the proposal as “Project Ice” and have not released the company’s name or the location of its future office.

But, Sarasota County Manager of Business and Economic Development Jeff Maultsby, in a memo to commissioners, said the firm would invest $1 million to acquire 12,240 square feet of office space and generate more than $15 million of economic impact in the region.

There is currently a vacant office building matching that size in Lakewood Ranch.
