City street resurfacing begins this week

The city of Sarasota will begin a $1.7 million street resurfacing project beginning Wednesday that will pave approximately 67 streets within the city’s quadrants.

The following streets will be paved with these tentative timelines:

• From July 27 through Sept. 9, streets north of Fruitville Road and east of U.S. 301.
• From Sept. 12 through Sept. 29, streets north of Fruitville Road and west of U.S. 301.
• From Oct. 3 through Oct. 25, streets south of Fruitville Road and west of U.S. 301 and U.S. 41.
• From Oct. 26 through Nov. 3, streets south of Fruitville Road and east of U.S. 301 and U.S. 41.

All dates are subject to change due to weather conditions. Door hangers will be placed on affected city residents’ doors five days prior to the start of the project in their areas.

The project is being paid for with sales tax and fuel tax dollars.
