City Hall plans to request federal funds to help fund 10 improvement projects, which carry an estimated cost of $100 million.
Those project include: Lido Beach renourishment; an upgraded police-records system; a new medical center in Newtown; a streetcar-type downtown transportation circulator; incentives to clean up the Marion Anderson brownfield site; bayfront connectivity; a traffic-light management system; roundabout at U.S. 41 and Main Street; homelessness prevention; and an after-school program for the Robert L. Taylor complex.
The city plans to ask that the funds appear as earmarks on a highway bill and Water Resource Development Act bill that are expected in Congress this year.
