Sarasota will move one step closer to installing red-light cameras if city commissioners approve a contract to purchase a number of the devices Monday.

The commission will discuss a deal with American Traffic Solutions Inc., of Scottsdale, Ariz., in which the city pays nothing up front, but splits the revenue from red-light running tickets with the camera company.

The city expects about $400,000 in revenue the first year from those citations.

Specific intersections to utilize cameras won’t be determined until after American Traffic Solutions conducts a site analysis.
