The Sarasota City Commission is seeking individuals willing to serve on the following advisory boards:
Board of Adjustment
• Two seats with no requirement (current members are eligible for re-appointment)
Board of Rules and Appeals
Five seats with the following requirements:
• Licensed mechanical contractor (currently vacant)
• Licensed fire alarm contractor (currently vacant)
• Licensed electrical contractor (currently vacant)
• Licensed engineer (current member not eligible for re-appointment)
• Licensed plumbing contractor (current member not eligible for re-appointment)
Civil Service/General Personnel Board
Three seats with no requirement (current members are not eligible for re-appointment)
• Preference is given to those with professional experience or qualifications in Human Resources or Employment Law
Employment Retirement Account Committee
The purpose of the committee is to provide oversight of the Defined Contribution Plan and make recommendations regarding such matters as administration and investment parameters.
• Two seats with trust banking or investment management experience preferred
Historic Preservation Board
One seat with the following requirement:
• Attorney (currently vacant)
Housing Authority
Four seats with no requirement (current members are eligible for re-appointment)
Nuisance Abatement Board
Two seats with no requirement (current members are eligible for re-appointment)
Parks, Recreation and Environmental Protection Advisory Board
One seat with no requirement (currently vacant)
Planning Board/Local Planning Agency
Two seats with no requirement (current members are eligible for re-appointment)
SHIP Affordable Housing Advisory Board
11 seats with the following requirements:
• One citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing
• One citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing
• One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing
• One citizen who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing
• One citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing
• One citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing
• One citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing
• One citizen who actively serves on the City of Sarasota Planning Board
• One citizen who resides within the City of Sarasota
• One citizen who represents employers within the City of Sarasota
• One citizen who represents essential services personnel
Preference is given to persons who reside or own property in the City of Sarasota.
