Sarasota County and the city of Sarasota have announced a series of closures for Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

City administrative offices will be closed for the day. A City Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 and 6 p.m.

Most Sarasota County government offices will be closed, including the Florida Department of Health. County recreation centers will be closed, except for the Arlington Park Recreation Center, open from noon to 5 p.m., and the Payne Park Tennis Center, open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. All county libraries will also be closed.

Sarasota County Area Transit will operate on a normal schedule, but customer service stations at the SCAT administration building and the downtown transfer station will be closed.

The Sarasota Police Department’s administrative offices will be closed, but there will be no change in patrol functions.

The collection schedule for waste will not be affected in either the city or the county.

More information on scheduled closures can be found on the county website.
