The City Commission has set new City Auditor and Clerk Pamela Nadalini’s salary at $135,000.

Because she had been making $75,000 as deputy clerk, Commissioner Terry Turner questioned whether the increase was too much, too fast.

“(It) is extremely generous,” he said. “It’s hard for me to reconcile, (when we) ask our retirees to pay extra for health care.”

Turner said, though, that he would go along with the rest of the commission if its felt the salary was fair. It did, and he did.

Turner was the only commissioner to choose a different city auditor and clerk candidate when Nadalini was appointed the job in February, and some members of the public vilified him for it.
