Cinderella Project under way

The Manatee Education Foundation this week is launching its annual Prince Charming and Cinderella Project, a campaign to provide free formal wear and cosmetology services to high school students who need assistance to attend their high school proms.

The drive, for which formal dresses, shoes, jewelry and other accessories are being accepted, will run March 5-9.

Donations are being accepted at the Manatee School District's School Support Center at 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, as well as at the Tidewell Treasures Thrift Shop at 5917 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

A special "fitting event" for student applicants will be held March 28, and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Students can get registration forms from their school office, guidance counselor or at www.MEFinfo.org.

In Sarasota, a Cinderella Project is also underway. The drive is sposored by Every Child, Inc. and will be held March 15 to 16. Donations of dresses, shoes, purses, or jewelry may be dropped off at Lotus, 1451 Main St., LBoutique, 556 S. Pineapple Ave, Louis Custom Tailor, 1662 Main St., Sarasota Brides & Formalwear, 4051 Clark Rd., or the George Mullen Activity Center in Northport, 1602 Kramer Way.
