Chihuahua loved island life, retirement

Peter “Petey” Keyworth-Fahey, of Longboat Key, died May 28.

Born in 1998, the Chihuahua moved in 2003 to the Longbeach Village from Siesta Key. He loved being on the boat with the wind in his ears and running on the sandbar with his nephew (a dog named Charlie), pausing only to roll in dead fish and other smelly things.

Petey was a world traveler who retired full-time in 2011 to Longboat Key from Guam. In retirement, he enjoyed napping, boat rides and avoiding the cats that his mother adopted in Guam.

He is remembered for his sweet, calm nature, love of a good nap and ability to stare unrelentingly at his humans (known as his “creepy Chihuahua stare”).

Petey is survived by his owners, David Keyworth and Holly Fahey; nephew, Charlie; and sisters, cats Suette and Ropa.
