Chamber event puts sporty spin on community gathering

The Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce will be combining tennis, food and live entertainment for Coldwell Banker’s Cocktails Courtside event Thursday, March 31. The event will be held at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center, 590 Bay Isles Road, in celebration of Longboat Key’s tennis facilities and the upcoming Sarasota Open, which will take place April 23 through May 1, at the Longboat Key Club Tennis Gardens.

The chamber event will feature a tennis exhibition by two players from the Sarasota Open, including Andrei Lordechescu, tennis pros from the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center and Longboat Key Club pros John Woods and Claudiu Retean. The event will also feature live musical entertainment.

The event is open to the public and is part of the chamber’s effort to expand its events to include not only chamber members, but the entire community.

“This will be a wonderful, community-oriented night,” says chamber President Tom Aposporors.
Aposporos says that after the success of the chamber’s “New Year, New Longboat” event in January, the chamber hopes to host a similar, community-wide event every two months.

Tickets are $15 and include a barbecue dinner and signature cocktail. There will also be a cash bar. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Reservations can be made online at longboatkeychamber.com or by calling 383-2466.
