For three more weeks, Shamrock Pub’s third annual Guest Bartender Summer Showdown features local celebrities as bartenders to raise money for their favorite causes. Already this summer, former Sarasota Mayor Kelly Kirschner raised more than $2,000 for Unidos Now.

Last year’s series raised more than $5,000 for nonprofits. The event runs from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday nights through Sept. 16, at Shamrock Pub, 2257 Ringling Blvd., and features a different bartender and charity each week.

Tonight’s guest bartender will be Ed Milder; proceeds will benefit Goodwill Industries Manasota. The Sept. 9 showdown features Joey Panek and Megan Greenberg and benefits the Harvey Milk Festival; the Sept. 16 event features Tom Darby and benefits 96.5 WSLR FM.

One hundred percent of the tips collected benefit the charities, with Shamrock donating additional funds to the chosen nonprofits of the three bartenders who earn the highest combined sales and tips. Shamrock owner Derek Anderson will be manning the grill and offering guests complimentary hot dogs and Italian sausages.
