Curt and Pia Laguerre Ravn caught an injured blue heron after nine weeks of an ongoing effort with Save Our Seabirds. Save Our Seabirds received many calls about the male heron, who was badly injured with a large fishing hook in his side. Charlie, the name the Ravns gave him, frequented Whitney Beach daily. That’s where the Ravns attempted for weeks to lure him with sardines. Pia Ravn eventually caught him using scallops. Charlie was taken to Save Our Seabirds and underwent a two-hour operation to remove the hook and stitch him up. He is now healed and still visits Whitney Beach.
