The local luxury real-estate market continues to show signs of strength, with a transaction Thursday marking the highest-price sale of a Casey Key residence since November 2009.

The property at 712 N. Casey Key Road sold for $8 million, according to a press release from Michael Saunders and Company. The 2.07-acre estate features 13,000 square feet of living space, a two-bedroom guest house, a tennis court, home theater and covered boat dock.

Linda Dickinson and Kelly Quigley listed the property with Michael Saunders and company, with an asking price of $10 million.

With the sale — the 18th residential property sold on Casey Key in 2014 — residential sales this year on the Key have already passed last year’s total. Last month, another Casey Key estate sold for $6.2 million.

The New Hampshire-based buyers plan to use the property as a vacation home and a family gathering spot, said Brian Loebker, a real estate agent with Michael Saunders and Company who represented the buyers in the sale.

“They ended up choosing Sarasota not only for the property itself, but also for its relative value when compared with similar waterfront properties in Naples and other luxury enclaves they visited along Florida’s Gulf Coast,” Loebker said.
