Bonnie Schneider, of Pelican Harbor, has attended the Casa del Mar cotton plant measuring ceremony for the Guinness World Book of Records two times in the past, and this year brought her visiting son, Chris, daughter-in-law, Norma, and grandson, Sean, to the July 15 ceremony.

“It’s free entertainment!” she said.

Norma Schneider said that, at first, she thought her mother-in-law was making up the event.

“I thought she was crazy, and then I see all these people and I thought they were crazy, too!” Norma Schneider said.

The Schneider family said they were excited to see how tall the tree would be this and were “keeping our fingers crossed.”
