It was “Around the World in 80 Years,” as Casa del Mar staff and residents celebrated the 80th birthday of General Manager D.M. Williams Jan. 31.

The tour itinerary included the 1985 world trip, when Williams and his partner, Rosie Turner, danced with the Cripple Creek Cloggers and performed in more than a dozen countries. Photos from Williams’ performances were displayed for the guests to view.

At the birthday celebration, staff members dressed like a flight crew and served Williams refreshments, even providing him with the requisite first-class blanket and pillow.

Among those wishing Williams a “happy birthday” were Casa del Mar Board President John Zefeldt, musician Ralph Shannon, Turner and more than 100 residents at Casa del Mar.

Kiwanian Vince DeLisi added his well-wishes and thanks to Williams for his long-time support of the Kiwanis
Club’s St. Jude Gourmet Luncheon.

Williams, originally from Midland, Texas, has been the manager at Casa del Mar for 29 years.
