Carman’s Shoes will close Wednesday, Dec. 29, after 45 years on St. Armands Circle.

According to Judy Carman, who owns the shoe-and-handbag store with her husband, Bill, selection is down to the “nitty gritty:” Just 10 handbags and four pairs of shoes remained as of Wednesday, Dec. 22, although furniture and display items are also for sale. The three-story building, located at 434 and 436 St. Armands Circle, is under contract with a retailer, Carman said.

The Carmans will retire after the store closes and will continue to live in the Longbeach Village, where they have resided for 41 years.

“We’ll find ourselves very busy in a short time,” Judy Carman said. “We’re the type of people who get involved in things.”
