After an unseasonable winter, the weather was picture-perfect for Cannons Marina’s fishing clinic, held March 27, at its annual spring open house. Featured speakers included local expert fishing guide Capt. Scott Moore and the National Weather Service’s senior meteorologist, Rick Davis.

The audience listened intently and took notes while fishing tips were offered, along with predictions of the weather ahead. Davis talked about El Niño and said, at the present time, it could mean more hurricanes later
in the season. Both men answered questions from the audience on specific topics.

Capt. Ray Markham focused on fishing with artificial lures, and Benny Parrish, of Cannons, spoke on ethanol fuel. Yamaha representative Michael Curry and Angela Puff, of Cannons, answered service-and-maintenance questions.

Cannons staff was available to assist with boat information.
