Businesses and shoppers fill St. Armands Circle

Summer doldrums?

Not on St. Armands Circle.

Even on a Monday night in the dead heat of July, you’ll find a crowd strolling through the shopping district. New businesses are also popping up on St. Armands.

Here’s a rundown of the newest arrivals on the Circle.

Pharmacist Dr. Mike Wilkins and his wife, Jenny, a certified anti-aging consultant, and biotech entrepreneur Keoki Andrus have opened AgeVital Pharmacy, a concierge pharmacy, at 16 S. Blvd. of the Presidents.

Concierge services include free delivery to the keys and downtown; hormone, weight-loss and wellness consultations; and a free pharmacist medication evaluation with transfer. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Fudge Factory of St. Armands opened in May at 12 N. Blvd. of the Presidents. It offers 42 flavors of fudge, candy and ice cream, along with gift items. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Tube Dude’s showroom opened June 1, in a 1,450-square-foot space at 26 N. Blvd. of the Presidents, with approximately 30 of the company’s signature metal sculptures. Tube Dude’s bestseller is its signature Mailbox Dudes. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Scandinavian Gifts recently opened a second store at 7 S. Blvd. of the Presidents, expanding the business beyond its longtime Gulf Gate location. The store offers Scandinavian items such as Swedish textiles, kitchen items and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Also on its way to St. Armands Circle: Afro Café, which will open in Touch of Africa, 464 John Ringling Blvd., in August, according to owner Deon Barnard. The café will feature South African coffees, wines, sweets and more.

The café was originally scheduled to open in July, but was delayed, in part, because many staffers attended a promotion last month in Washington, D.C.
