+ Rios named director of communications at Key Club
Sandra Rios is the new director of communications at the Longboat Key Club and Resort. Rios was public relations manager at MGM Grand at Foxwoods and Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Connecticut, and went on to serve as director of business development and public relations in corporate sales at Longwood Events, in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, where she was responsible for strategic business development and sales efforts for three luxury event venues. Rios most recently worked as director of sales at World Yacht LLC, in New York City. She brings a background in the hospitality industry with a strong focus on culinary brand development.

+ Sarasota Cupcake Co. to open on St. Armands Circle
Nate Zammit will open Sarasota Cupcake Co. this month at 27 N. Blvd. of the Presidents on St. Armands Circle. Zammit is the son of Ron Zammit, owner of Cakes by Ron, in Sarasota. Zammit has worked full-time at Cakes by Ron for six years. Zammit said that his most popular cupcake flavors include Boston cream, red velvet, strawberry and piña colada. + Green Ginger Hair Design holds reception fit for royalty
Staff and clients of Green Ginger Hair Design, on St. Armands Circle, celebrated the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton with a “Royal Reception,” complete with wedding cake, champagne, mimosas and cucumber sandwiches. Female staff members wore fascinators, which they made at the salon on Thursday between appointments.
