+ Foxy Lady South celebrates its first anniversary on St. Armands Circle
Foxy Lady South, 14 S. Blvd. of the Presidents, celebrated its first anniversary Friday, Oct. 25.

The event at the St. Armands Circle boutique included a cocktail party and trunk show by Frank Lyman, along with a $500 wardrobe from Lyman as a raffle prize. The raffle benefited Donte’s Den, which provides care for up to 100 dogs on 50 acres of countryside in Manatee County.

Le Colonne catered the event. Foxy Lady South is the second Foxy Lady location on St. Armands Circle.

+ Design 2000 welcomes new stylist
Steve Gianopolus is the new stylist at Design 2000 in Whitney Beach Plaza, 6840 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
Gianopolus has been in the styling business for 40 years and has licenses in Florida and Illinois. He is proficient in advanced hair coloring, foiling and cutting.

+ Bees create a buzz on Pine Avenue
Pine Avenue merchants have a new addition: honey bees that will forage in a 3- to 4-mile radius of their home and produce an estimated 80 pounds of honey per hive each year.

The idea surfaced when Mike Miller, who developed Pine Avenue’s Edible Community Gardens, noticed that pumpkins planted in boxes weren’t doing well. He discussed the issue with Michael Coleman, operating partner for the Pine Avenue Restoration project, who suggested that a lack of bees could be the problem.
The bees are located at an undisclosed, secure location.

Coleman already has a new name for the newest Pine Avenue product: Paradise Honey.
