+ Longtime associates hold sartorial celebration
Nelson Martin and Harold Freeman celebrated the opening of their new men’s clothing store, Martin Freeman, with a grand-opening reception Saturday, March 3, for friends and customers. The store is at 75 S. Palm Ave., just south of Caragiulo’s restaurant in downtown Sarasota. Martin and Freeman, partners in the new venture, were long-time associates at the former Maus & Hoffman clothing store on St. Armands Circle.

+ SYC makes a splash with water-sports program
Sarasota Yacht Club rolled out a kayak and paddleboard water-sports program March 5. Members will be able to rent kayaks and paddleboards. They will also be able to take lessons, fitness classes and take eco-tours. Prices range from $25 to $35 for half-days, and $30 to $50 for full days. There will also be a paddle clinic monthly during which members will be able to try the equipment for free. Part of the proceeds will benefit Mote Marine Laboratory.

+ Cool pool on Longboat Key receives recognition
Lucas Lagoons Inc. of Sarasota won a bronze award in the Residential Restorations category for a Longboat Key pool it installed. The judges for the Florida Swimming Pool Association selected the Key winner from a “pool” of candidates for its waterfall, landscape and stonework with vegetation.

+ Circle associates are made in the shade
Sunglass Hut on St. Armands Circle is offering 20% off of sunglasses and accessories for St. Armands Circle associates and members. Associates or members will receive 20% off (with some exclusions) if he or she brings a business card and/or pay stub to the St. Armands location from now through Sunday, March 11.
