Sarasota County Deputy Administrator David Bullock has signed an agreement for the interim town manager position that the Longboat Key Town Commission will consider at its Monday, Oct. 3 regular meeting.

The one-year agreement includes a salary of $180,000; term life insurance of $540,000, or three times the salary amount; retirement contribution of 17.8% of salary, or $32,040; a long-term care insurance policy premium not to exceed $7,000 per year; 30 days severance if terminated without cause; and disability insurance, leave and vacation as the town currently provides to all at-will employees.

In a Sept. 28 letter to commissioners, town attorney David Persson wrote that the agreement includes cost savings of approximately $20,000 compared with the town’s previous agreement with Town Manager Bruce St. Denis.

According to the letter, if commissioners decide not to renew the contract after one year, Bullock would not receive severance pay.

The commission directed Persson to pursue contract negotiations with Bullock at a meeting held Monday, Sept. 26. Longboat Key Police Chief Al Hogle has been serving as acting town manager since Monday, Sept. 19, when the commission accepted St. Denis’ resignation.
