LAKEWOOD RANCH
The Lakewood Ranch Moms Group will be hosting its annual Growing Up Sale from 8 a.m. to noon, May 2, at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.

The multi-family sale will offer gently used baby and children’s items. This is a great place to purchase toys, clothing, strollers and other baby items. There are great bargains to be had at this multi-family sale. The public is welcome. A truck from Mothers Helping Mothers will be accepting donations for all items that are not sold.

BRADEN WOODS
Braden Woods community activist Ed Berardi reported recently that a resident in the Oak Hammock area of Braden Woods had the stereo stolen from his car while it was parked in the driveway.

Berardi is warning Braden Woods residents to be aware of their surroundings and asking them to lock their vehicles while at home.

GREENFIELF PLANTATION
The Manatee Association of Realtors will host its 18th Annual Golf Tournament May 15 at The Links at Greenfield Plantation, located on State Road 64 just east of Interstate 75. A scramble format, the golf tournament begins with a putting contest at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun start at 1 p.m. and wraps up with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s tournament will benefit My Community Makeover, an organization that partners community volunteers and the skilled trades to provide free home repairs and improvements to local families in need.

This year, East County-based CornerStone Title is sponsoring a $10,000 hole-in-one jackpot. Any golfer who hits a hole-in-one on Hole 6, which is a par-3 hole, will receive a grand prize of $5,000. The remaining $5,000 benefits My Community Makeover.

The cost is $70 per player ($280 per foursome). Dinner-only tickets are $25. Hole sponsorships are $100.

MANATEE COUNTY
J. Gunner Aker, president of Lakewood Ranch-based Aker Marketing, has been locked up in the big house, and he needs your help.

Aker is participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s ALS Awareness Lock-Up Event on May 14. It is a jail-themed event honoring the local MDA clients living with Lou Gehrigs Disease, and Aker needs your help to be bailed out.
