Fiscal year 2015-16 is a big year for capital projects, which include $22.5 million worth of beach projects. Here’s what town staff has on its agenda for the next budget year, which begins Oct. 1.

Islandwide beach projects: $22.5 million

North-end and south-end sand projects could begin this summer.

Subaqueous pipeline: $17 million-$25 million

Town Manager Dave Bullock wants to replace an aging wastewater pipe under Sarasota Bay. A study will be performed in mid- 2015 first to determine how the 40-year-old pipe is holding up.

Bayfront Park: $3.1 million

Park improvements could begin at the end of the year.

Town Center: Cost unknown

The town manager paused talks on the concept until he has time to talk with property owners.

Canal dredging: Cost unknown

A study will investigate depths of bayside canals.

Town software upgrade: $400,000-$600,000

The upgraded software system that all departments can access uniformly — and is more user-friendly for citizens, too — is on its way.

Underground utilities: $19 million-$42 million

A project won’t happen unless the voters approve it in a referendum.
