Buchanan to announce pill mill legislation

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan this morning will announce plans for sweeping legislation to crack down on pain management clinics that improperly prescribe and distribute prescription drugs.

At a press conference at 10:30 a.m., today, Buchanan will announce details of the plan. The meeting will be held in the lobby of Buchanan's Sarasota District Office Building, 111 S. Orange Ave., Sarasota.

Prescription drugs kill seven Floridians daily, and Florida has become known in other states as a prime source of illegal prescription drugs.

Buchanan held a forum on the prescription drug issue with federal, state and local authorities less than a week ago.
