+ Outdoor seating
changes approved
The Town Commission approved two requests by The Dry Dock Waterfront Grill and The Longboat Key Club and Resort’s Harbourside Tennis Gardens at its Monday, Dec. 7 regular meeting. The Dry Dock requested a site-plan amendment for additional outdoor seating, and The Tennis Gardens asked for a site-plan amendment to allow for outdoor dining at the facility’s snack bar/café during operating hours of the indoor dining facility.

+ Town election dates confirmed
At its Monday, Dec. 7 regular meeting, the Longboat Key Town Commission confirmed Jan. 26 as the town’s preliminary election date (if a runoff election is required) and March 16 as the general municipal election date.

+ Commission makes business-tax revision
The Town Commission adopted an ordinance that revises a category of the town’s business-tax-receipt program to reduce the cost paid by individuals renting their boat slips.
Town Manager Bruce St. Denis recommended that the business tax be reduced from $103.95 to $33.60 per year after slip owners complained about the high cost of the tax.

+ Beach money
transfer made
The Town Commission passed a resolution that will transfer $30,000 from the north-end, erosion-control structure account to the North Shore Road sand- fill project account. This resolution will allow the town to place 600 cubic yards of sand near the eroded North Shore Road public beach access point.
