+ Pension analysis postponed
Town Manager Bruce St. Denis agreed to postpone a decision by the commission to fund an approximately $100,000 comprehensive study of the town’s three pension plans until a more accurate description of what will be analyzed can be brought forth for the commission’s review.
At its Monday, April 5 regular meeting, Commissioner David Brenner noted a letter from town pension board trustee Arnie Malasky, who expressed concerns about the town paying for such a study.
Said Brenner: “I don’t think we want to move ahead foolishly and expensively.”
St. Denis postponed the decision until the town’s 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15 regular workshop.

+ Beardsley pleads guilty to charge
Former Longboat Key police officer Patti Beardsley pleaded guilty March 29, in Sarasota County, to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill. Beardsley was fired Oct. 15 for waving her handgun at a motorist, who had pulled into the driveway of Beardley’s home.
 

+ No parking at boat ramp
The Town Commission approved, on first reading, an ordinance at its Monday, April 5 regular meeting that establishes a no-parking zone near the Linley Street boat ramp in the Village and the entrances and exits to Town Hall.

+ Shannon Gault joins pension board
The Longboat Key Town Commission unanimously appointed Country Club Shores resident Shannon Gault to the firefighter retirement system board of trustees seat vacated by Ron Vale at its Monday, April 5 regular meeting. The commission also ratified the re-appointment of firefighter Lt. Michael Murphy to the board.
