Ed Brickman: Legal Forging opened at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts Thursday, Dec. 2 at 5 PM. Brickman’s jewelry work was on display and many members of the community and friends of Brickman attended the opening event which featured appetizers and drinks as well as the ability to purchase some of Brickman’s jewelry. One of the groupings of jewelry pieces that is on display was inspired by a drawing, included in the display, made for him by his grand-niece.
Brickman was born in New York City and started making jewelry at the age of sixteen. After spending time working with a professional jewelry maker he made his own way in the world and is featured in permanent collections in the Newark Museum in Newark, NJ and in the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City. He has been creating jewelry for over 65 years and now teaches at Ringling College for Art and Design.
To see Brickman’s exhibit visit the Longboat Key Center for the Arts during its business hours, Monday – Friday 9 AM to 4 PM.
