Bradenton Marauders give back to local students

At the Back-to-School Night event Aug. 15, the first 500 children ages 12 and under will receive backpacks stuffed with school supplies.

Does your child still need supplies for school before classes start Aug. 24 in Manatee County?

A local baseball team is helpingĀ families provide children with backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils and other necessities.

Saturday, the Bradenton Marauders are hosting a Back-to-School Night event at McKechnie Field. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts at 6:30 p.m.

The first 500 children ages 12 and under admitted to the game will receive the school supplies.

Admission is $1 for Manatee and Sarasota counties school district employees, with identification, and their families. Tickets for 10 or more individuals cost $5 each.

Want to bring your dog? With the purchase of a $2 Bark Badge, attendees can bring their dog to the event.

Proceeds from the badges benefit the Humane Society of Manatee County.
