EAST COUNTY — Cadets in Braden River High School’s JROTC program excelled Oct. 20, in the Raiders competition, at which they faced academic, physical and tactical challenges. Three teams — one of eight males, one of eight females and one co-ed team — had two minutes to complete as many push-ups as possible and another two minutes to do as many sit-ups as possible. They also made their way across a rope bridge, ran for a mile with packs on their backs and ran a three-mile team run.

Braden River’s three teams placed first in overall competition, and also won many competition categories.
In the physical test: Braden River’s male and female teams took first place; its mixed team placed second. In the rope bridge, team run and academics categories, all three of Braden River’s teams placed first. In cross country/first aid, Braden River’s female team placed first; its male and mixed teams placed second.

“The Braden River team worked hard for the trophies they won,” said Morganne Riggs, JROTC S5 public affairs officer. “Each cadet put forth their best effort, and everyone here is very proud.”
